POP Forums v9.2.1 posted to CodePlex, adds only Spanish translation
Jan 1226Just wanted to drop a quick note to say that I've got an updated version of our most recent POP Forums drop. The new v9.2.1 adds Spanish along side of Danish, German and English as available languages. It has no new features or bug fixes, so if you have v9.2.0, and you don't need Spanish, these aren't the droids you're looking for. Want to translate to yet another language? Drop me a line: jeff@popw.com. ...

Hello GitHub!
Dec 1107Hubot stache me. Well the poll results are in and you guys were very close! I was taken aback at the intensity of the interest in where I would end up. Seriously, I’m honored. But then I thought about it for a moment and figured, there must be a betting pool on this. These folks don’t care that much. Today is my first day as a GitHub employee! In other words, I am now a GitHubber, a Hubbernaut, a GitHubberati. Ok, I made that last one up. If you haven’t heard of GitHub, it’s a site that ...

UGIALT.net conf 7: proposals, dates and voting
Nov 1118During the last 3 weeks I’ve been pretty busy with the organization of the UGIALT.net of next 21st January. This post is a quick update on the status of the Call For Presenters and the next steps that will lead to the big day. First of all: the official closing date for the CFP is November 27, at 23:59 CET, so you still have 9 days to think about something and submit it. So far, we have received 29 proposals, from 23 different speakers, and the agenda will have 3 tracks of 5 slots and one ...

Summer time learning: Getting started with Node.js
Aug 1131It is now a consolidate tradition for me to publish, during summer time, a list of the books I liked reading or that I bought and are sitting on my shelves (or, lately, more and more on my iPad) waiting to be read. In the last years these lists contained .NET and development methodologies books and web development books (jQuery and JavaScript). The topics of the book in this year’s list are a bit different. There will still be a bit of web development on .NET, but due to the nature of the pr...

CoffeeScript, Sass and LESS support for Visual Studio and ASP.NET with the Mindscape Web Workbench
Jul 1122There's some really impressive stuff happening in the .NET Community lately. Folks are reaching outside their standard built-in tools and pulling inspiration from everywhere. It's been said that (some) Microsoft developers don't like to use tools or technologies that aren't built in to Visual Studio. However, myself and others have been pushing the concept of LEGO blocks snapping together. Rather than thinking of Visual Studio as a giant single block, consider it as a small block amongst many...

ASP.NET MVC 3 Docs In Nine Languages
Jun 1127In May, we released a tools update for ASP.NET MVC 3 in nine languages other than English. Today I got the good news that ASP.NET MVC 3 documentation is also now available in those nine languages, which arguably is even more helpful to those learning and using ASP.NET MVC. Japanese: http://msdn.microsoft.com/ja-jp/library/gg416514(VS.98).aspx Korean: http://msdn.microsoft.com/ko-kr/library/gg416514(VS.98).aspx Chinese (Simplified): http://msdn.microsoft.com/zh-cn/library/gg416514(VS.98)....

Creating a Custom ASP.NET MVC Project Template
Jun 1106When you create a new ASP.NET MVC 3 project, the new project wizard dialog contains several options for different MVC project templates: Empty Internet Application Intranet Application (new in the April 2011 Tools update) There’s a lot of white space in that dialog. To many of you, all that unsullied territory smells like opportunity. When I talk about this dialog, I go to great pains to tell folks that, yes!, you too can extend that dialog and add your own project templates in there...

Localized Releases of ASP.NET MVC 3 Tools Update
May 1110In April we announced the release of ASP.NET MVC 3 Tools Update which added Scaffolding, HTML 5 project templates, Modernizr, and EF Code First Magic Unicorn Edition.
